Closing.

I can mention this now -- I've known for a couple-few weeks, but now they've sent out postcards announcing the fact, so I don't have to stay quiet about it anymore.

The Lake Forest Park Jo-Ann Fabrics I work at is closing down. It, and the Lynnwood store, are combining into a new super-store up in Lynnwood. I haven't decided if I'm going to be going to the new store or not. Probably not. I've been really tired of this job anyway, frankly, so I think I should take this as a sign it's time to move on. If anyone has any decent job leads, let me know.

It's been kind of stressful and depressing the past couple of days, what with all these people coming in asking, "Are you really leaving?" A couple of customers seem happy about the new store, but the overwhelming majority are sad and frustrated at the move. (Mainly because of the location. To hear these people talk, you'd think Lynnwood was in Canada.)

On the bright side, no-one's mentioned training me on the cutting counter again, so maybe that idea's been dropped in the shuffle. *fingers crossed*

Oh, yeah, we're hiring a bunch of people to get us through the transition period/liquidation sales. They're desperate for people, so if you're looking for temporary work, come on by and apply. Tell 'em you know Six.

Well, unless you're comfortable with Filbert and Locust, it is pretty tricky to go to Lynnwood from Bothell Way without using the freeways, and the freeways are a pain.

Is the new store coming in at Alderwood, or elsewhere in Lynnwood?

Freeways aren't a pain. Freeways are a godsend. Of course, this is coming from a thirty-something-going-on-nineteen-year-old who still thinks he's immortal and consequently drives that way, but ....

New store will be on 99 and 196th. Quite close to Dan and Kate's, actually.

On a weekday afternoon, trying to go to Lynnwood from north Seattle on the freeway is a PAIN and you know it. :P

Weird. Is that area being redeveloped lately? Will it become a new Land of Giant Stores?

Lynnwood, however, is dreadful, and I'm sure it's well on its way to becoming nothing but giant stores. And furniture stores. I've always wondered how they can support so many of those.

I'm sorry, too, to see the Lake Forest store go. I liked the selection there, and of course, the proximity to Third Place.

Having worked there, I'm not sure I'd use the word sorry to describe my feelings.

Well, the location was good. It would be nice if they would've renovated the existing space to make it suitable for a fabric store.

Maybe the selection had improved in the two years since I left? ^_^

ugh, Lynwood

I always used to get lost in Lynwood-- and I rarely get lost. And I thought traffic on 99 was frustrating.
