I definately don't think being "babe" material precludes one from being a good character. In Next Generation Crusher and Troi were "babes" and still good characters, but they also had elements to their personality, and weren't 1-dimensional. DS9 also had Dax, who was a "babe" and still had personality. Unfortunately, Voyager did not start the trend, but did capitalize on barbie doll characters.
