Casting.

Here's the character list for my fan film, along with who's playing what part, and the roles that are still uncast. (I'm posting this here instead of in [livejournal.com profile] dw_eleventhhour because I want as many people as possible to see it.)

_________

Archivist
Our alien menace. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] retcon. We'll need to figure out what we're doing for makeup, and I'll need someone to be in charge of his makeup. ([livejournal.com profile] windbourne? [livejournal.com profile] artvixn?)

Brodie
A physicist. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] ursako.

Castle
A manager. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] lokheed, schedule permitting.

Co-Worker
Another small part, with just a couple of lines. Needs to be a "techy" type.

The Doctor
My own humble self, natch.

Extras
Will need some extras for a conference room scene at a physics-lab-type corporation. If you'd like to be in this, but you can't act to save your life, we do need bodies.

Security Guard
Minor part. [livejournal.com profile] saheeb138 was willing, if not especially enthusiastic, to do this. If someone out there actually wanted this role, I don't think he'd be too upset to have someone else do it.

Jackson
A technician. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] georgmi.

Alien Leader
To be voiced by [livejournal.com profile] str1.

Nathan
A physicist. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] kespernorth.

Pryde
A physicist/entrepreneur. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] endorphan.

Rebecca
Nathan's wife. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] hetaera15.

Receptionist
This is going to be just a voice-over part, actually, so this could be done by anyone, anywhere, who could record their part and send me a halfway decent quality MP3.

Susan
The Doctor's companion. To be played by [livejournal.com profile] windbourne.

THAT ROLE IS MINE BETCH.
No, seriously. You want comedy, I'll give you comedy. You want pathos, I'll give you pathos. You want crudites and a cocktail before every scene, I'll pay staff services for you.

[identity profile] ursako.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
P.S. I won't actually pay staff services. But I do have two full weeks between leaving work and starting law school in August when I could devote myself to the role. :D

[identity profile] ursako.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
P.P.S. I also give excellent receptionist.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Crap, I forgot about you starting law school. Okay, that could make scheduling Interesting, but you've been so enthusiastic about this project, I still definitely want you to have this part, so we'll do what we can to work around it.

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Mwahahaha! You have fallen for my little ruse, as I always knew you would! My username has only the first 'e', a holdover from my email addy at that company I used to work for. (GeorgeM and GeorgeMi already worked there when I started.) Since it turns out that GeorgMi is a much rarer username than with the second 'e', I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow to just keep using it.

(Actually, it's been years since I got to twit anybody about my username--georgemi@thatplace used to forward me an errant email every couple of months, but he quit a couple of years before I did.)

It would be fun to give acting a shot again, though I've not had good luck with my voice translating to recorded media. Happy to give it a try, though. My memory being what it isn't, the sooner I get a script, the more likely I'll be only mostly, instead of entirely, useless. :)

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Crap! Okay, username fixed. :)

Sounds good. Script sent to the address in your profile. Don't worry too much about memorizing your part word for word -- we'll all double-check our lines before each shot, I'm sure. :)

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm, the address in my profile is that LJ-chat thingy. I expect you will see a bounce soon. :) The actual address is george at lonelymountain dot net. (Note that it's my name, not my LJ username--would be annoying, after the big deal I just made about how i "always" use georgmi, if you tried sending to georgmi at lonelymountain. I think we'd get it, because M. has a catch-all account set up on the domain, but I don't think she ever checks it.)

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
OH NOES A BOUNCED MSG FAIL. No worries, re-sent. :)

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, got it this time.

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
HEY! You killed me!

[identity profile] kespernorth.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm very excited about this.

Could I prevail upon you to send me another copy of the script? Mine was on a hd that died the true death.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. Sending now.

[identity profile] morgyne.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Is [livejournal.com profile] retcon going to wear sparkly pants? This I must know.

[identity profile] ursako.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Is [livejournal.com profile] retcon ever NOT going to wear sparkly pants? This, my friend, is the question of our times.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually haven't seen him in any sparkly pants since he lost all that weight. I think he -- what's the opposite of outgrew? -- outshrunk them all.

That said, no, his costume isn't going to be terribly sparkly. We're not going for that old-school Doctor Who a look, here. :)

[identity profile] ursako.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
We're not? What'll I do with all this spirit gum and glitter I bought, then?

(I didn't really buy any spirit gum.)

[identity profile] hetaera15.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
I never have seen the script for this...I'd like to, if you have a chance to get one to me.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sending it to you right now.

[identity profile] pulpguy.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
I would be willing to help out assuming the when and where do not interfere with my upcoming school schedule.

[identity profile] velveteen.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Buh? No idea how that happened. I was saying that since I'm apparently kind of an alien anyway, I could certainly try to voiceact one. Looks like you might have a taker though.

[identity profile] lokheed.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You can count me in, as long as you can fit me into your schedule. I arrive in town around noon on Monday, June 25th, and fly back to Florida on the morning of Friday, June 29th. I have plans to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] retcon on the evening of Tuesday, June 26th and would be amenable to filming then. I don't have any other plans set in stone yet for that week. Let me know if I need to bring any particular clothing, but I suspect I will already be dressed pretty much in manager mode anyway.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! I will see if I can line up a conference room location between now and then. Costuming should be "business casual" -- like you said, probably the clothes you're bringing with you anyway.

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
...How big a conference room?

No promises, but the TC has an interior (no windows to the outside to distract the actors, screw up the lighting, or tell the audience it isn't the time of day the script says it is) conference room. I just sent email asking our office manager if we can sneak in and use it an evening or two later this month.

We're a government installation, though, so the rules may be against it.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds ideal. (Why do you ask how big, though? Is it tiny? It doesn't need to be very large .... )

I don't know if you have one of those newfangled cell-phone cameras, or can conveniently bring a digital camera to work, but if it would be at all convenient to snap a couple pics of it and mail them to me so I have some idea what kind of space it is, that would be more than awesome.

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I ask how big because a meeting room looks kind of silly if it's significantly out of scale with the number of attendees; this room seats about twenty people around the central table, with probably as many chairs around the walls. If you can get at least ten people into the room, though, it shouldn't look too cavernous, plus there will be plenty of room for the cameraperson(s).

As it happens, I *do* have "one of those new-fangled cell-phone cameras", but I would no more use it to take a picture than I would use (M. tells me I should not finish this sentence. :) )

I'll haul my DSLR in to work and shoot a couple of frames. :)

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Have pics. Having driver issue with work desktop/card reader. Will send pics from home. Assuming I remember.

[identity profile] georgmi.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
The big boss says it will probably be OK, we need to let him know the date. Monday and Tuesday work best for me that week, and Wednesday could work if it had to. (On Wednesday, M.'s parents (and Liam) might need to be picked up at the airport, and so Liam will want his daddy home early on Thursday, as he will not have seen me for a week.)

[identity profile] str1.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm up for rocking the alien leader voice role, though I might have to borrow someone else's computer set-up to do the recording.

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. I'm sure that can be arranged.

[identity profile] str1.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. I'm happy to a part of this.

Oh, right.

[identity profile] str1.livejournal.com 2007-06-10 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It just occurred to me that it might be beneficial if I requested a copy of the script.

[identity profile] deadrose.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm around, have plenty of acting experience including fillum. Can put my hair in a bun or braid crown and look like severe scientist/secretarial bitch with ease, esp if you need someone vaguely Eastern Euro/Russky looking :-D

Oh, and that nurse outfit is mine, so is available if needed. Then again, it's American - I'd have to go order a proper British one.

[identity profile] ssandv.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
is "techy" like "geeky"? I could probably do that. As of this week I'm no longer doing rotating shift idiocy, so I'm somewhat more readily available at times that work for the rest of the semi-civilized world.

PS u giv skript?

[identity profile] icebluenothing.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you'd certainly be suitable. It's literally just a couple lines, so no huge time commitment there. What address should I send the script to?

[identity profile] ssandv.livejournal.com 2007-06-09 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
ssandv at gmail dot com

(google homepage, google mail, google reader, google news, google calendar...it's the new borg, I swear)
