A can of Diet Coke, if dropped from approximately chest-level, will, in fact, explode, and with surprising force.

At least a single can creates a finite mess. We kept finding evidence of teh explosion in bizarre crevices of the kitchen for months afterwards . . .

Heh. Try leaving an Odwalla bottle, empty with cap on, in a hot apartment for the weekend while your gone.

I was still finding... residue... from the blast two years later, when I moved out.

If a can of Diet Coke left a sticky mess, I'm kinda concerned about the condition of the floor it was dropped on. :)
